On Thursday, Ramdas Athawale and Shashi Tharoor had a Twitter battle over a tweet that the Congress MP made about the Union minister.

Shashi Tharoor’s Tweet

Tharoor shared a screengrab from Sansad TV’s coverage of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s Lok Sabha speech on Twitter.

Union minister Ramdas Athawale can be seen seated on the bench behind the Finance Minister with a ‘stunned expression.’

Shashi Tharoor, referring to the picture, remarked on Twitter: “Nearly two-hour rely to the Bydget debate. The stunned & incredulous expression on Minister #RamdasAthawale‘s face says it all: even the Treasury benches can’t believe FinMin #nsitharaman‘s claims about the economy & her Budget!”

Tharoor was quickly responded to by Athawale, who pointed out grammatical errors in his tweet.

On Twitter, Ramdas Athawale wrote: “Dear Shashi Tharoor ji, they say one is bound to make mistakes while making unnecessary claims and statements. It’s not “Bydget” but BUDGET. Also, not rely on but “reply”! Well, we understand!”

Tharoor reacts “Blame it on my fat tweeting thumbs!”

Shashi Tharoor later responded to one of the comments on his tweet.

“Blame it on my fat tweeting thumbs!” Tharoor replied in response to a Twitter user who inquired if he needed to look up the definitions of “rely on” and “Budget.”
