Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the progress made in the troubled region of Manipur. He credited the improvements to the combined efforts of the central and state governments. In an interview with the Assam Tribune, PM Modi highlighted the allocation of resources and administrative support dedicated to resolving the long-standing conflict.
PM Modi Commends Progress in Manipur Amidst Criticism
PM Modi mentioned the active involvement of Home Minister Amit Shah during the height of the conflict. Shah’s presence in Manipur and consultations with various groups played a crucial role in calming the situation. The central government continues to support the state government, and efforts for relief and rehabilitation are ongoing.
However, the Opposition has criticized PM Modi’s government for the tense situation in Manipur, especially after ethnic violence broke out in May last year. Last year, they even initiated a no-confidence motion against the BJP-led government, demanding clarity from PM Modi on the Manipur issue.
In response to these criticisms, PM Modi assured Parliament of the joint actions being taken to bring peace to Manipur. He emphasized that both the Centre and state governments are working together, with the whole country supporting Manipur in these challenging times.
