Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma has decided to send appointment letters to 385 successful candidates. The appointment letters were submitted to the candidates at a recruitment grand ceremony held at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital Auditorium. This recruitment programme focuses on the government’s efforts to enhance the employment sector in the state.
Assam CM Hands Over 385 Appointment Letters at GMC Auditorium
In the mammoth recruitment ceremony, appointment letters were issued to candidates across various departments. Several postings are consequently filled through the successful completion of this event. The most prominent among them include a total of 183 letters that were issued under the Directorate of Vocational Education, and 81 under the Directorate of Higher Education, while 20 lecturer positions were allocated within the State Education Research and Training Council. Asserting that the government had indeed provided employment opportunities in the state, the chief minister revealed that the state government had kept up its promise of 100,000 jobs under the govt. The government had surpassed the number they had estimated, and till date, it has made a total recruitment of 125,030. He emphasized the strides the state has undertaken in its job growth journey.
Overcoming Challenges in Engineering Faculty Recruitment
CM Sarma did not miss this moment to confess before the challenges faced in the process of recruiting engineering faculty. He relieved the audience that remedial measures are ongoing to overcome the problem. The CM further announced that 136 engineering lecturers will be appointed shortly to meet the increasing demands of educational institutions.
Initiatives Under Process for Recruitment
The general looking ahead, Sarma said recruitment efforts aren’t letting up. He confirmed that processes are on and for another 35,000 more to join a series of departments. This goes to imply a sturdy effort put by the government to match the work needs in this state.
Sarma announced a semiconductor plant at Jagiroad in a recent recruitment event organised at GMCH Auditorium. The under-construction semi-conductor plant promises to generate more employment opportunities for the Assam youths. He appealed to the young minds in the state to gear up themselves in order to reap the benefits of this employment generation as soon as this state-of-the-art facility begins to function.
Recently, a total of 81 Assistant Engineers (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical) have been appointed in Public Health Engineering Department. In the state’s appointments, there are also 100 Urban Technical Officers, 101 Financial Management Officers in Housing & Urban Affairs Department, and 12 Senior Scientist Officers and 6 Junior Officers which have been appointed in Directorate of Forensic Science.
Along with the new jobs under the state, Sarma also spoke about the interest of the BJP government in taking the forensic science forward.
According to him, the number of forensic labs has increased to six in Assam and this depicts the quality to enhance the legal enforcement and the judicial process. Plans are afoot for establishing a National University of Forensic Science in the state, further reinforcing Assam’s forensic capabilities.
The above increases in forensic labs and the soon-to-be university will help increase the conviction rates of Assam and enhance its capacity to solve complicated crimes. With these appointments, the count of recruits made by the BJP government in Assam has crossed 124,645 numbers, which has crossed the initial target of jobs announced as 100,000 jobs.
The CM was of the opinion that the government remained committed to continuing their efforts towards creating more opportunities for jobs and improving the condition of the state’s economy.
It is through such initiatives that the Assam government is not only increasing its job opportunities but is also working on bettering educational standards in the region and making sure the youth of Assam have the skills and opportunities to thrive in the future.
