Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced significant developments in the state’s recruitment and examination schedules during a recent Facebook Live session. The updates include crucial dates for various examinations and extensive recruitment drives across multiple departments, aiming to strengthen the public sector workforce.

Police Recruitment: 6,434 Vacancies Announced

The Assam Police recruitment process will begin with physical tests starting on October 3, 2024, following the normalization of the current flood situation. With 6,434 vacancies to fill, the state government plans to expedite the recruitment process by conducting physical tests, written exams, and viva voce simultaneously.

ADRE Grade III and IV Examinations: Key Dates Revealed

The Assam Direct Recruit Examination (ADRE) for Grade III positions is set to take place on September 15, 22, and 29, 2024. The examination process will mirror that of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), beginning with a preliminary exam, followed by the Mains, and concluding with the viva voce.

Similarly, the Grade IV examinations are scheduled for October 20 and 27, 2024. The state has announced 7,600 vacancies for Grade III and 5,000 vacancies for Grade IV posts. This structured and phased approach aims to ensure a thorough and efficient selection process.

Teacher Recruitment: Thousands of New Positions

The state government is gearing up to announce the hiring of 5,550 teachers for the Elementary Education Department. Additionally, the hiring of approximately 8,000 teachers for Secondary Education will be delayed by one to two months. This delay is due to the government’s plans to create new positions for Graduate Teachers specializing in Mathematics. About 2,000 of these positions will be created in the first phase, addressing a critical need in the education sector.

Ambitious Recruitment Targets Across Departments

Chief Minister Sarma has revealed ambitious plans to complete the recruitment process for approximately 35,000 posts across various departments by March or April 2025. This comprehensive recruitment drive aims to fill numerous vacancies, strengthening the workforce in Assam’s public sector and enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of state services.

Conclusion: Strengthening Assam’s Workforce

The announced recruitment drives and examination schedules reflect the state government’s commitment to bolstering Assam’s public sector. With thousands of vacancies to fill and a clear, structured approach to the examination process, these efforts will significantly impact the state’s workforce, providing opportunities for many and ensuring the efficient operation of various departments.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s announcements underscore a proactive approach to addressing employment and service delivery challenges, setting the stage for a strengthened and more capable public sector in Assam.
