Chief Minister N Biren Singh of Manipur addressed the ongoing crisis in the state, emphasizing the importance of enduring present hardships for a brighter future. Speaking at the launch of “Project Buniyaad-Aathmanirbharta ka Aadhar” by the Honda India Foundation (HIF), Singh commended the initiative’s aim to empower Manipur’s youth through skill development and employment opportunities in the hospitality sector. Singh expressed gratitude to HIF for supporting the youth amidst troubled times and personally attended the launch to underscore his commitment to Manipur’s youth.

Singh highlighted the current crisis as a struggle for existence, survival, and identity, acknowledging past threats to the state’s land and identity. He assured the government’s dedication to safeguarding the state’s integrity and providing security and opportunities for future generations.
Singh credited recent measures by the government of India, such as scrapping the Free Movement Regime and implementing border fencing and the Inner Line Permit System, for preventing illegal activities and immigration, thus ensuring the state’s security and stability.
In line with the project’s goals, Singh suggested HIF prioritize crisis-affected students and extend outreach to remote areas and hill districts when selecting participants. Vinay Dhingra, Trustee of Honda India Foundation, underscored the project’s collaborative effort with Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission and Visan Foundation to provide employment opportunities to unemployed youth from marginalized sections of society. Dhingra stated that the project aims to train and employ 1000 youth from Manipur over three years, aligning with Honda Foundation’s mission of societal inclusivity and dedication to education and skill development.
