A deputy superintendent of police (DSP) in Assam was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a minor domestic worker, according to DGP Gyanendra Pratap Singh on Sunday.
DSP Arrested in Assam
The DSP was stationed at the Lachit Borphukan Police Academy in Golaghat district, and an FIR was filed against him at the Dergaon police station. The case, registered under sections 376, 506 of the IPC, and Section 6 of the POCSO Act, involves accusations of sexual misconduct towards the housemaid.
The arrest came after evidence surfaced during the investigation, leading to the apprehension of the DSP. DGP Singh emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual misconduct within the police force, highlighting the importance of accountability.
This incident underscores the ongoing efforts to address and prevent such behaviour, reinforcing the commitment of the Assam Police Headquarters to maintaining integrity and ensuring justice for all.
