Four institutions from Assam have achieved positions in the top 100 educational institutions in India, showcasing their academic excellence. In the recent rankings by EduRank, IIT Guwahati stands at 44th place, closely followed by Guwahati University at 45th.
Assam’s Educational Institutions Shine in National Rankings
Dibrugarh University and Assam University have secured the 94th and 95th positions, respectively. Additionally, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) from Shillong has been ranked 93rd, highlighting the strong academic performance in the Northeast region.
The top spot in the rankings was claimed by IIT Kharagpur, with the University of Delhi coming in second and the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore securing third place. These rankings are based on an extensive evaluation by EduRank, which examined over 30.9 million citations from 2.69 million academic publications across 876 Indian universities. The prominence of 3,706 acknowledged alumni was also considered in the rankings.
EduRank’s methodology involves assessing universities from a vast database that includes 14,131 institutions from 183 countries. They analyze over 98 million scientific publications and more than 2 billion citations across 246 research topics. The rankings are not solely based on academic performance; factors like non-academic reputation and alumni popularity are also taken into account to provide a comprehensive assessment of a university’s influence.
These rankings reflect the academic prowess of the institutions and their impact on a global scale, emphasizing the quality of education and research being conducted in Assam and the Northeast region of India.
