The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) witnessed a remarkable confluence of vision and dialogue as it hosted the Viksit Bharat Ambassador Dialogue on March 14th, 2024.
IIT Guwahati Hosts Transformative Dialogue
The esteemed occasion welcomed the presence of Hon’ble Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, who engaged in a transformative discourse centered around India’s developmental trajectory towards the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ goal. This goal, envisioned by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, aims at propelling the nation into the league of developed countries by 2047, marking a century of independence.
In a resounding affirmation of the crucial role of public participation in national development, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized the imperative for citizens to actively contribute to India’s transformative journey. The event, attended by dignitaries including the Hon’ble Finance Minister of Assam, Smt. Ajanta Neog, and Shri Hitesh Jain, a core member of the Viksit Bharat Ambassador program, underscored the pivotal role of institutions like IIT Guwahati in driving India’s progress.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Officiating Director of IIT Guwahati, hailed the Northeast’s burgeoning development and called upon the students to draw inspiration from the ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’ vision, urging them to contribute significantly to the nation’s growth trajectory.
Highlighting the Northeast’s pivotal role in India’s developmental narrative, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman lauded the region’s achievements, including the recent groundbreaking ceremony for the Tata Group’s Semiconductor Assembly and Test Facility in Assam. She elucidated on various initiatives, from the establishment of the National Sports University to advancements in semiconductor manufacturing and the integration of drone technologies in agriculture and healthcare sectors, showcasing the region’s potential as a hub of innovation and progress.
Echoing the sentiment of empowerment and collective endeavor, Smt. Ajanta Neog, Hon’ble Finance Minister of Assam, emphasized the state’s remarkable strides in infrastructure, economic initiatives, and education, positioning Assam as a beacon of growth in alignment with the national vision.
Shri Hitesh Jain, in his address, underscored the catalytic role of Viksit Bharat Ambassadors in shaping India’s destiny, urging individuals to actively participate in initiatives driving societal progress.
The interactive session between Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman and the students of IIT Guwahati emphasized the criticality of youth empowerment and innovation in realizing India’s developmental aspirations. The Hon’ble Minister urged the youth to leverage their skills and creativity to effect transformative change.
