Most of us need to sweat it out for months at a stretch at the gym and yet many do not see any loss in weight. However, you must be awestruck to know that the five-time World Champion boxer Mary Kom shed two kilograms of weight in a period of mere four hours. This happened at the Silesian Open Boxing Tournament in Poland held in the year 2018.
Risk of being disqualified
Ahead of the regular weigh-in, Mary Kom was found to weigh a little over 48 kilograms and was on the verge of disqualification if she was unable to make the weight. But, the Olympic Bronze medalist did not shy away from the challenge. In about the four hours he had, she lost all the extra 2 kilograms of weight.
How did she do it?
For anyone wondering how she did it, Mary Kom skipped rope for an hour at an extent. “Just like that, I was ready”, Kom told PTI.
“We landed in Poland at around 3:30 in the morning and the general weigh-in was at around 7:30 am. I was a couple of kilograms above 48kg, the category I compete in, at that point,” the five-time world champion, who is also an Olympic bronze-medalist, told PTI. “So, I had roughly four hours to shed that or I would have been disqualified for being over-weight at the time of general weigh-in. But I did skipping for an hour at a stretch and just like that, I was ready,” said Mary Kom.
