FIFA, World Football Governing Body has banned Indian Super League (ISL) Clubs East Bengal and Kerala Blasters from signing new players in the upcoming transfer windows due to the non-payment of dues to former recruits.
The Kolkata-based club has been served a ban by FIFA who has acted upon a complaint about unpaid salary by former player Jonny Acosta. Kerala Blasters also have received a transfer ban for the non-payment of salary of their former player Matej Poplatnik.
According to the reports, the Kolkata based club has been served ban by FIFA after former player Jonny Acosta shared about his unpaid salary. He was signed in the month of March in 2020, however due to suspension of I-League, he could only play one game.
Additionally, the East Bengal top official Debabrata Sarkar said, “they have received the letter and are taking “immediate steps”. He added, “This is a fallout of the one-sided termination by Quess Corp Ltd. Now we are made to pay the price for their wrongdoing. We are very much worried about the club’s future.
Unfortunately, Acosta however got stuck in Kolkata due to covid lockdown last year.
