At the invitation of the Patrice Lumumba Peoples’ Friendship University, Moscow, three students from Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU) – Ms. Nihali Madhukoulya, Ms. Prachita Duara, and Ms. Bilakshi Bordolaye – are visiting Moscow from July 19 to July 29, 2024, to participate in the International Summer School. This invitation is part of the exchange program between GCU and the Patrice Lumumba People’s Friendship University, Moscow, Russia.

Immersive Cultural and Educational Experience
During their stay, the students from Girijananda Chowdhury University will immerse themselves in Russian language and culture through project-based learning and various cultural and educational events. They will also visit some of Moscow’s most famous sites to gain a deeper understanding of the Russian capital. This experience aims to broaden their global perspective and enhance their academic journey.

Strengthening International Cooperation
The participation of GCU students in the International Summer School in Moscow is a significant milestone in the ongoing cooperation between GCU and the Patrice Lumumba People’s Friendship University (RUDN). This collaborative effort was initiated by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of GCU, Prof. Kandarpa Das, during his visit to Russia last year. Prof. Das proposed international collaborations in higher education to foster academic and cultural exchange.
MoU Signing and Future Prospects
In December 2023, Prof. Svetlana Elnikova, Deputy Director of the Patrice Lumumba University, visited the GCU campus and discussed the academic and career prospects for Indian students in Russia. This led to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two universities in April 2024, pledging academic and cultural collaboration.

A Commitment to Academic Excellence and Cultural Dialogue
The Girijananda Chowdhury University hopes to further strengthen the relationship between the two institutions through such collaborative endeavors, contributing to academic excellence and cultural dialogue between India and Russia. This exchange program is a testament to GCU’s commitment to providing its students with global learning opportunities and fostering international cooperation.
