Transforming Skill Development for MSMEs
In a landmark initiative aimed at propelling the micro, small, and medium enterprises sector forward, Union Minister for MSME, Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Minister of State, Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, inaugurated a revolutionary Skill Development Training Programme at the NSIC Technical Service Centre (NTSC) in Okhla, New Delhi. This event marks a significant stride towards enhancing the capabilities of entrepreneurs and strengthening the MSME sector, which Manjhi hailed as the backbone of the Indian economy.
A Vision for Empowerment
The inauguration ceremony, organized by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), was attended by notable figures including Shri S.C.L. Das, Secretary (MSME), Smt. Mercy Epao, Joint Secretary-SME, and Dr. S.S Acharya, CMD of NSIC. The new training programs are meticulously designed to equip MSME entrepreneurs with essential skills and knowledge, paving the way for success in various industries.
In a groundbreaking move, NSIC has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with M/s Drone Destination to integrate advanced drone technology training into the MSME skill development framework. This collaboration is expected to provide MSMEs with a competitive edge in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. Additionally, MoUs were signed with three banks under NSIC’s Credit Facilitation scheme, further strengthening financial support.
Government’s Commitment to MSMEs
Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi underscored the significance of the MSME sector in India’s economic structure. “The MSME Sector is the backbone of the Indian economy. Today’s event signifies a new chapter in our journey towards a skilled and empowered India. Our focus on empowering rural entrepreneurs will ensure holistic growth for this Sector,” Manjhi stated.
Minister of State, Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, emphasized the government’s vision of creating a robust ecosystem that nurtures talent and fosters innovation. “These training programs are a crucial step towards realizing this vision,” she remarked.

Secretary (MSME) Shri S.C.L. Das highlighted the pivotal role of this sector in advancing technology, particularly in establishing India as a global hub for drone technology. He assured that the Ministry would provide unwavering support to this initiative, reinforcing its commitment to technological progress.

The event also featured an exhibition showcasing products from former NSIC trainees who have achieved notable success as entrepreneurs. Both Union Ministers interacted with these successful entrepreneurs, offering congratulations and encouragement for their ongoing ventures.
