The plight of road traffic and the rush in city buses has caused a lot of upheaval in a man’s life. He shares his plight that despite starting early, he never reaches his work place on time.
City buses of Guwahati
A common man from Guwahati shares his ordeal as he has to face a lot of hurdles due to city buses. Since the man is from a humble background he cannot afford a private vehicle and thus tavel by buses to reach his destination.
As per the reports shared by him, “we don’t get a high paying salary and public bus is the only means of commute for our daily travel. The city bus drivers and conductors are taking things for granted. The way they ply on the road is pathetic.”
Most of the buses in the city are generally overcrowded and filled with people. They wait long hours at a stop to get on board more passengers even though there are no place to stand.
Many a times it has come to light the competitions on the road which puts the passengers lives at stake.
The areas where long hours of stop are included are Zoo Road, Chandmari, gnaeshguri, Guwahati Club.
In addition to this, the flyover that is being constructed has added to the traffic congestion in the city until the project is completed. Initially before the covid, the situation was somewhat beter as less people used to travel by these buses and rules for overcrowding was in place.
The safety of women in these buses are also a matter of concern which needs to be addressed by the officials.
