In a startling incident that unfolded on Wednesday in Guwahati, the swift action of vigilant policemen thwarted an attempted kidnapping, leading to the apprehension of an e-rickshaw driver.
Guwahati Police Thwart Attempted Kidnapping
The detained e-rickshaw driver, identified as Dipu Rabha, allegedly played a role in the attempted abduction.
The incident began when a minor girl hailed the e-rickshaw to travel from Jyotinagar in the Bamunimaidam locality to participate in the festive Bihu dance celebrations at Chandmari.
However, instead of dropping the girl at Chandmari as requested, the accused e-rickshaw driver took a detour and began driving towards Geetanagar in Guwahati.
Realizing the alarming change in direction, the girl was overcome with fear and decided to take action. In a brave move, she jumped off the e-rickshaw, near the Geetanagar Police Station, where police officials were on hand to intervene and assist.
Following the incident, the accused e-rickshaw driver was swiftly apprehended by the authorities, ensuring that further harm was prevented. Fortunately, the minor girl was reported to be safe and unharmed.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and swift response by law enforcement authorities in ensuring the safety and security of citizens, particularly in cases involving vulnerable individuals like minors.
