Chandmari Police in Guwahati detained two associates of the main culprit involved in the brutal hacking of a woman in the city’s Gandhibasti locality. The disturbing incident occurred on Wednesday, prompting the immediate rush of the injured woman for medical treatment.

The main accused, identified as Ibrahim Rahman, remains at large as the police intensify their investigation into the matter.
It has been revealed that the family of the victim woman had lodged two complaints against Ibrahim with the police, one in 2019 and another in 2022.
The shocking attack unfolded on the eve of Eid, with sources indicating that the young woman was critically assaulted in an attempted murder, leaving her in a precarious state.
The incident transpired in the Gandhibasti locality, where the woman was discovered bleeding and swiftly transported to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). At present, her condition remains undisclosed; however, sources indicate that her chances of survival are grim.
Reports suggest that the assailant, armed with a sharp weapon, viciously attacked the woman, leaving her severely wounded and abandoned on the roadside.
The motive behind the attempted murder remains unclear. Local authorities from the Chandmari Police Station swiftly responded to the scene following reports of the incident.
Through initial canvassing of the area, police identified Ibrahim as the prime suspect, with several residents implicating him based on their suspicions.
According to local sources, there existed a prior relationship between the accused and the victim, with the victim having mentioned his name before the attack. The victim woman has been identified as Shabira Begum.
As investigations continue, authorities are working diligently to apprehend the main culprit and bring justice to the victim and her family.
