LPG price crosses Rs 1000 mark

As per reports from Hindustan Times, the price of domestic cylinders weighing 14.2 kg is Rs 1,003 in Delhi and Mumbai; Rs 1029 in Kolkata and Rs 1,018 in Chennai.

Earlier this month, the price was hiked by Rs 50 making the cylinders cross the 1000 mark in several cities of India. Last year, the price of a domestic cylinder in the national capital was Rs 809 which further increased to Rs 1003 today.

The recent hike in prices of all essential commodities comes at a time when the economy is fluctuating at 7.8 per cent since April. The reason for this surge is increased geopolitical tensions and an increase in transportation costs due to a hike in fuel prices.
