An elderly couple was allegedly murdered at their residence in Chandan Nagar area, Beltola Survey, Guwahati. The elderly couple was said to be brutally murdered by the robbers who barged into their house on Monday night.
According to reports, the victims are identified to be Noni Gopal Baruah (87) and Mina Baruah (76). The case at the moment is of presumed murder and theft.
Cause of murder
According to preliminary investigations, the property was entered through a shattered window, and numerous items were stolen from the house’s cupboards and other areas.
The doors leading to the rooms were also found broken. In their bed, the bodies were lying in a pool of blood and it is said a sharp weapon was used to smack the couple in the head which caused the death of the duo.
The Caretaker as usual went to serve breakfast in the morning when he found that the window grill was not there.
It was initially discovered when a passerby saw that the house’s door was locked until late in the morning, which is unusual. That’s when they went inside and discovered the pair in a pool of blood.
