Sourav Ganguly has formally taken the place of Anil Kumble as the Chairman of the ICC’s Cricket Committee.
Who has bestowed this office upon Sourav Ganguly?
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the governing body for cricket in the country, and is under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
The BCCI has officially appointed Sourav Ganguly as the Chairman of the Cricket Committee of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Anil Kumble replaced; about Ganguly’s predecessor
The position of being ICC’s Cricket Committee Chairman was previously held by, a former teammate of Ganguly, Anil Kumble.
The latter had been given the prestigious responsibility by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in the year 2012. He replaced West Indies’ Clive Llyod. In the year 2016, he was re-appointed for another tenure.
Furthermore, Kumble was re-elected for his third and last three-year term back in the year 2019, in the month of March. He served the role of being the Cricket Committee’s Chairman for a time period of nine (9) years.
Sourav Ganguly likely to be promoted
According to reports by Times Now, Anil Kumble is now likely to pave way for former teammate, Sourav Ganguly. The latter is all set to be given a promotion from an observer, to being the chairman.
