About the Republic Day Parade

Every year on 26th January, the Republic Day parade is a center of attraction for all its citizens and the global audience.

The celebration for the day begins with the unfolding of the flag by the president. The marching from several regiments of Armed Forces such as Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with their bands follows.

However, this year Parade will be different. For the first time in 75 years, the Republic Day parade will start 30 minutes late.

This will be done due to the corona protocol and homage to security personnel who lost their lives in Jammu and Kashmir.

Reportedly, a police official said, “The delay is caused due to COVID-19-related restrictions and before the parade begins, homage will be paid to security personnel who lost their life in Jammu and Kashmir.”

The celebrations comes to an end with the Indian Beating Retreat ceremony performed by the bands of the Armed Forces. The ceremony is conducted on the evening of January 29, the third day after Republic Day.

PM Narendra Modi this year too will pay tribute to the martyrs by laying wreaths at the Amar Jawan Jyoti and the National War Memorial at India Gate.
