Mamata Banerjee comments on the death of a minor girl of 9th standard. The girl alleged to have been gang raped by a group of young men – one of them being the son of a local TMC leader. The other two accused as been identified to be his friends.

Mamata Banerjee has been in a limelight ever since she commented on the death of the minor girl. The minor was alleged to have been ‘gang raped’. Two people have been arrested so far. One of them being a son of a local TMC leader.
The incident occurred in the Nadia District of West Bengal. Mamata Banerjee has been embroiled in the controversy ever since she made the remark by asking the media, “has she been raped, or was she pregnant or was it a love affair? has the media enquired? I heard it was a case of love affair”.
She blamed the media for constantly feeding answers to the general public without verifying with the police first. She further added to her statement that the body of the young girl was cremated the same day of her killing. and the police were informed about her death almost after a week. She questioned the media by saying, “The body was cremated on the same day and as a layperson i am saying this, where will the police find evidence”.
In a recent report by the BJP chief of west bengal, criticized her statement by saying nothing is more shameful than a woman protecting a rape case just because the accused ‘s father is of her party.
The main accuse Braja Gopal Goala has been arrested and along with his friend Prabhankar Poddar. The arrest has been made based on the statement by the prime accused.
