Where is the world heading to? China is going to heights with its technology and is being able to do everything according to its wish and will. This time it is the removal of Quran and Bible apps in China. Next time it will be more dramatic and worse, who knows! If it’s not a violation of human rights, then what? The ban is now the most talked-about thing, on the whole, wide internet, of course, why not. Let’s see then!
The most used and popular app used by the people, the Quran Majeed, which is used for reading the Islamic religious text and another prayer-related information has been taken down by Apple after the request of Chinese officials. It bans and deletes the app was, however, first noticed by the Apple Censorship website, which monitors apps on Apple’s app store. The People’s Republic of China however on a very surprising note protects the Islam religion.
But why so? The Quran Majeed is available for free and is recognized and used by around 25 million users all across the globe. It has been alleged that the app produced illegal religious text, reported the BBC and the developer is now working on resolving the issue with China’s Cyberspace Administration. But the Chinese officials till now have not commented about the said reason. Though a reason has been cited but still, what exactly rules have been broken by the app is still not evident to the people.
It should also come to light that, Apple’s supply and market chain is very much reliant on China’s manufacturing making Apple stand in a very difficult position. So is Apple playing a double game to be on the safe side? By the time we will come to know about it.
However, it is only for the Chinese people who cannot use the app, but the app remains available on other app stores and goggle stores. In China, people can use VPN to access the app. Apple agreeing on China’s will can be related to anything as nothing is transparent in the ongoing scenario. We get to know what is being portrayed or said to us. How much is true or false completely depends on our perception of how we take things into action. So this scenario will have different opinions and different mindsets of people. Some will go for it thinking it to the correct step, while another half will reciprocate it.
Before jumping into anything, it should also be considered or taken into account in that there is ample amount of proof of China’s concentration camps for Uighur Muslims ethnic groups in Xinjiang. Now what is the real motive or reason behind the ban is not revealed anyways. There have been on the other hand numerous reports of human rights abuses and forced labor which has not really changed and is still in practice, making people their victim cards.
After all the affairs and ongoing situation, apple declined to comment, but directed the BBC to its human rights policy, which states: ‘We’re required to comply with local laws, and at times there are complex issues about which we may disagree with the governments’. Not only that there have been many issues that are going on and need proper closure.
The Chinese government however has used its power to make the Apple takedown Quran app in China. Quran Majeed however as per reports said that ‘it is trusted over by 35 million Muslims globally’.
