The vaccination drive for youngsters is set to start in the state early next month.

Since, around 80 percent of the children who were not vaccinated are believed to have an enrollment in the schools and colleges in the state. Therefore, the health department has been planning to set up Covid vaccination centers in the school campuses to reach out to this section of teenagers along with existing Covid vaccination centers.

The registration process for vaccination

As per information, revealed by the central government, children in the age group of 15-18 years will be able to register on the CoWIN app from 1st January.

The children will be required to submit ‘student id cards’ for the registration process for Covid vaccination.

Official from the health department said, “The same Covaxin doses that are being administered among adults will be used for the children. Though Zydus Cadila’s ZyCoV-D vaccine has got approval in the country for administration among the children but it is yet to be made available in Assam.”

Further the official added, with availability of vaccines, an 18-lakh target for the 15-18 age group can be achieved in 15 days.

However, a strategy for the dropouts was yet to be planned.
