Assam cabinet key decisions: Jorhat-Majuli bridge to come up within 4 years

On 9th September, the Assam government has taken some major key decisions in the cabinet meeting which was held in Guwahati under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Cabinet extends condolences to the victims and their families

Decision-related to the boat tragic incident of the Neamati Ghat was taken, ceasefire by banned outfit DNLA, and criterion for applying at employment exchange, among others.

At the beginning of the meeting, the cabinet observed a minute silence and extended condolences to the boat accident victims and their families. that occurred on 8th September afternoon.

Thereafter, Health Minister Keshab Mahanta, who is also the spokesperson highlighted the decisions to the media that has been taken on the key issues:

Additional Chief Secretary Manindra Singh is given full responsibility for investigating the Jorhat- Majuli boat accident and submit the report within a month. 

Hereafter, Jorhat Police has been directed to register a criminal case against those responsible for the tragic incident. 

Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Neog is given the responsibility for constituting the team to constantly monitor the Jorhat-Majuli bridge construction. The state government will provide additional support in this regard. 

The Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) has declared a ceasefire for six months. The cabinet has decided that the state government will not start any investigation or operations will be against them for one month. During this period, The banned outfit members will not be able to carry weapons and make extortion demands.

Police Verification not required in case of government jobs

Candidates will have to provide self-declaration which would be uploaded on a portal. If the self-declaration is inappropriate then action will be taken against those Candidates. Reservation for specially-abled candidates applying for government jobs has been increased from 3 percent to 4 percent.

An aadhaar card can be used to register at the Employment Exchange Centre. Candidates did not visit the center. Processes will be conducted in an online mode. However, anyone without an Aadhaar Card can register by April 1, next year.

For government construction works, the royalty payable to Forest Dept for using construction materials would now be submitted in treasury and deducted from the contractors’ bill. For private construction in urban areas, the fixed royalty can be paid in four installments at the treasury.

Distance education degrees, diplomas, etc. will be treated the same as regular programs for government jobs. 

The cabinet decided on large-scale vaccination across the state. The Guardian Minister will have to take care and monitor in this regard.

The Cabinet has decided to constitute Assam State Organic Mission Agency (ASOMA). Mission Organic Value Chain Development, Assam, and National Beekeeping & Honey Mission (NBHM), Assam would work under ASOMA.
