Another deadly virus makes its way into the lives of mankind in the United Kingdom. Monkeypox Virus was recently contracted by a man who had a recent travel history from Nigeria.
The Health Officials of the country stated, ” We are working with NHS England and NHS Improvement to contact the individuals who have had close contact with the case before confirmation of their infection, to assess them as necessary and provide advice.”
As per reports, the patient who contracted the virus is now being treated at St Thomas Hospital.
What is the Monkeypox Virus?
This is one of viral disease which often is associated with diseases like smallpox, cowpox, horsepox and camel pox.
The symptoms of monkeypox are similar to smallpox. It can be categorised into two periods – the incubation period is from 6 to 13 days. The patient usually experiences fever, headache, back pain and intense asthenia.
The first ever case of monkeypox was detected in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1966-97.
The virus is usually transmitted from animals but when a human contract it, the virus can be easily transmitted to another.
