The CBSE curriculum of class 10 social science content excluded the verses of Faiz. It states that “the segment on religion, communalism and politics will continue to be a part of the course content – excluding image on page 46,48 and 49,”

Students of the CBSE have been reading excerpts from of an urdu poet. Two of the most popular excerpts –

“we remain strangers even after so many meetings, blood stains even after so many rains” .

“not enough to shed tears, to suffer anguish not enough to nurse the love in secret.. Today walk in the public square fettered in chains. “

These above mentioned verses that has been a part of the CBSE textbook of class 10 has been excluded for the 2022-23 session. The verses are from the chapter Democratic Politics II. The two posters on the pages 46,48 and 49 has also been removed.

As per one of the leading news agency, they did not respond to any queries that were being put forward. Apart from the above mentioned, the chapter on democracy and diversity has also been removed from the syllabus. In class 11 history textbook, a chapter on Central Islamic Land has also been removed. Courses from class 12 Political Science textbook , Cold war era and non aligned movement also has been dropped. They further stated that chapters that are based on federalism, citizenship, secularism, and nationalism will not be based to asses a student. This statement had resulted in widespread controversy in the year 2021-22
