Sania Mirza marked her return to Wimbledon for the first time since 2017 as she and her American partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands defeated sixth seeds and American Chilean duo Desirae Krawczyk and Alexa Guarachi 7-5, 6-3 to move to the second round of the women’s doubles event at the Wimbledon Championships on Thursday.
The Indo-American pair had a lot of pressure and were a bit rusty early in the match as they started slow and also served some points to the gym opponents but once they got the rhythm they dominated the whole match.
However, for the first time, there will be a bit of history as Ankita Raina as well as Sania Mirza both are representing our country and also competing in the main draw of a Grand Slam.
