Badruddin Ajmal, an MP of the Lok Sabha, who is also the President of Assam State Jamiat Ulama appealed to the Muslim Community on Friday that they must not perform ‘Qurbani’ of cows on Eid-ul-Adha which will be on the 10th of July 2022.
Statement by Badruddin Ajmal
He made the statement saying that performing Qurbani is an essential duty for the Muslims especially for those who can afford the sacrificing of animals like camels, goat and buffaloes.
In a statement, Ajmal said ” The majority of people in this country view the cow like a mother. As such, as far back as 2008 the country’s largest Islamic Academic Institute Darul Uloom Deoband had issued an appeal to avoid sacrificing cows on Eid-ul-Adha. There is no mention in scripture that the sacrifice of cows is mandatory. Since the emotions of the majority of people are associated with the cow, therefore Darul Uloom had suggested the use of other animals for the ritual sacrifice.”
