Hardik Pandya has been selected as India’s captain after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named a star-studded lineup for their two-match T20I series against Andrew Balbirnie’s Ireland on Wednesday, June 15.
After both Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul were ruled out of the five-match T20I series against South Africa, Hardik was recently chosen as Rishabh Pant’s deputy.
Meanwhile, right-handed batter Rahul Tripathi has also earned his maiden India call-up following his decent performances for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
For the forthcoming series, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been selected vice-captain. In the ongoing series against the Proteas, the bowler has been in outstanding form for the Men in Blue.
Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh, both fast bowlers who have yet to face South Africa, have also been included in the team.
