On Tuesday, June 9, a man was caught as he was allegedly trying to steal some money from the Cash box of a shop in Ganeshguri. The theif said he did so as he desperately needed some money around Rs. 50,000 for his mother treatment.
Local residents caught the man and was made sit down near the pavement of the shop. The Police arrived shortly, after Dispur Police station was notified about the matter. Though the accused was let off soon, as the shopkeeper declined to register a case as nothing has been stolen.
Confirming it, the shopkeeper said that he would withdraw the matter as he was attempting to steal but nothing was taken.
Meanwhile the accused’s wife informed that her husband left the house to sell his phone, as they were urgently in need of money for his mother’s surgery. The wife further added she hasn’t fed her baby since morning and has not been able to go home for 2 days for his mother medical emergency.
The lockdown imposed in the country due to the pandemic has fractured every individual and this case comes as a live example of that. The financially weaker section of the society have been drastically effected by this.
