A loud sound wave was heard at around 10:15 am in the morning today across various districts of Lower Assam. The sound waves were of very high frequency due to which several people felt a shake like that of an earthquake.
Several assumptions have been made for the sound. Few have considered it to be a sonic boom which is a sound associated with shock waves created when an object travels through the air faster than the speed of sound.
While there have been unverified reports of a jet crash at Bhawanipur area in Barpeta District. The reason is yet to be known.
