The police commissioner further added:
“A few hours before dying by suicide the husband called up and informed that they are committing suicide. While police personnel rushed to the apartment, the couple had already died by suicide. We couldn’t save them.”
The police added that the couple, a 40-year-old man and his wife, were worried over COVID-19 symptoms, and fearing the worst, they hanged themselves.
Why did the couple decide on this hurtful decision?
According to reports, police said the couple married in 2000, identified as Ramesh and Guna R Suvarna, residents of an apartment in Mangalore city, and did not have any children. And because of this reason, they were under depression for a long time now.
On the 16th of August, the couple left a voicemail for Mangalore police commissioner N Shashi Kumar, indicating that they were terminating their lives because they couldn’t endure the tension caused by media reports about the condition.
