Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam, stated on Saturday, October 23 that the state government has sanctioned Rs. 10 crores for the construction of a new stadium in Owbari playground, Tamulpur.

Beneficiaries for the families from Tamulpur LAC
The Chief Minister further stated that under the Orunodoi Scheme, 10,000 additional families from Tamulpur LAC (Legislative Assembly Constituency) will be added to the existing 16,000 beneficiaries. Other promises include job opportunities for youth and assistance for women.
According to CM Sarma, one lakh jobs will be provided for Assam’s youth, and twenty-two lakh women will receive MFI loan waivers.
The statement also mentions the opening of a medical college and hospital in the town, as well as the imminent completion of another bridge across the same river in Jartalauk.
Finally, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma encouraged residents of the state to become familiar with COVID-19 guidelines and to acquire the two doses of COVID vaccine as soon as possible to protect themselves against the deadly virus’s spread.
In his speech, he even revealed how the COVID virus had damaged the late Tamulpur MLA, forcing the by-poll.
Accusations against Assam CM
On Saturday, the opposition party Congress in Assam claimed that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had been arrested while campaigning for the October 30 by-elections.
The opposition has accused Sarma of violating the Model Code of Conduct by promising development activities for Assam in poll-bound areas.
