As per reports, early on Saturday morning, police discovered the body of a 16-year-old boy who was found hanging in a classroom at the school. The incident occurred at the Rentas Colony Vivekananda School near the Jogendra Nagar Railway Station, about 4 kilometers from the center of Agartala city.
Identification of the deceased
The deceased has been identified as Kisan Shukla Das. His place of residence was also close by. On Friday night, he was nowhere to be found.
The death of the minor boy
On Saturday morning, residents in the neighborhood discovered his dead body, which was hanging in the school. His mother and other family members rushed to the scene after hearing the news to help identify the boy’s body. The death of the youngster has left the community, as well as the boy’s family, in mourning.
Cause of death
After a preliminary investigation, police found the body and transported it to the morgue for autopsy. Although it appeared to be a suicide at first, the exact cause of death is still unknown.
The incident was being investigated by police as part of an investigation into an unusual death.
Is history repeating itself?
On 29th December 2020, the body of a medical student from Tripura was discovered hanging in his hostel in a strange condition.
Adarsh De, the deceased student, was a ninth-semester student at the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and resided in the college hostel.
He was originally from South Tripura, where he committed suicide on 28th December night, according to police reports.
A close friend of his said he was acting perfectly normally. Another student claims that Adarsh’s behavior on the day before his suicide was completely normal and that he showed up to all of his classes.
According to reports, Adarsh, 23, was a top student at Belonia English Medium School and had topped the higher secondary exams.
Other similar cases from the state
Another such incident was reported in January this year when Tripura police have discovered two people hanged in the East Lakshibil area of the district’s Sepahijala police station, both aged 15 and 17.
The girl’s family claims that the deceased couple was in a relationship. The two may have committed suicide, according to reports.
According to the girl’s brother, they learned about the deceased couple’s love affair from a mutual friend.
In the state of Tripura, another suicide took place on August 4 where a BSF jawan working at Paharmura Border Outpost (BOP) in Khowai district allegedly killed himself with his service rifle just hours before his shift was to end.
An officer at the state police headquarters said Baburam Choudhury (41) of the 80 battalions had been on duty since the afternoon of August 3 and was from Jodhpur in Rajasthan.
A police official on condition of anonymity said, “Although it looks like a suicide, we are investigating to find out the reasons behind the incident.”
Earlier in May last year, a BSF official was found dead in the Pancharatan area of Dhalai district, 150 kilometers from the August incident, officials said. Authorities believe he shot himself in the head with his service rifle.
In April 2019, a BSF constable from one of the 166 battalions stationed in North Tripura went on a shooting rampage, killing his fellow officers before turning the gun on himself with his service rifle.
In Subhash Nagar, West Tripura, a Tripura State Rifles (TSR) soldier shot and killed his wife and two children before taking his own life in May 2018. Tripura Police has an armed counter-insurgency force called TSR.
