Innovator turned entrepreneur from Assam Suruj Chetia granted patent for his innovative MUGA thread-reeling machine; it is entitled “A reeling apparatus and method thereof” with the provisions of the Patents Act, 1970. Suruj Chetia is the founder of the startup Aicheng Innovation and Research Pvt. Ltd.

The advanced reeling machine is Electric & manually operated for Muga, Mulberry, and Tassar yarn reeling. It can reel both Digh and Bani quality yarn, and It is a low-cost & productive design for every grass level reeler, weaver & Muga farmer. Compared with the traditional reeling method, it can work five times more. Only one person can operate this machine.
But the conventional way required a minimum of two people for reeling. On this machine, one person can spin approximately 100 – 175 gms of yarn (500-650 nos. cocoon) daily. An expert operator can reel string with two-reel together at the same time.
Chetia has also been honored as a grassroots-level innovator by the government at an exhibition held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, in the presence of the president of India, Ram Nath Kovind. During his innovation, he received support from National Innovation Foundation, and presently, his startup, Aicheng Innovation, and Research Pvt. Ltd is incubated with NEATEHUB (An AIC- AAU Incubator).
