Sikkim: Retired government superintendent engineer Kaziman Chettri on Monday contended that Sikkim youth are being deprived of local job opportunities due to fake domicile holders who are in State government service.
Addressing a press conference here, Kaziman claimed that there are a high number of government employees in the state with fake state Subject certificates and Certificates of Identification (CoI), as per a “year long survey”.
This is the main reason behind our sons and daughters becoming unemployed, he said.
Sikkim’s Job Crisis Among Youths
“The government jobs in Sikkim are being availed by the children of those who came to the state to work on a temporary basis post merger. Today, highly qualified and capable original Sikkimese children are facing employment crisis due to this”, said Kaziman.
He further claimed that fake domicile holders constitute 32% of the total population of the state. The third generation of this lot will be capturing 100% job opportunities in Sikkim, he said.
Kaziman called on the educated youth to come forward and make conscious efforts to stop this “impending crisis” for the state. The issue of fake documents, if not timely tackled, will lead to disaster in the coming days for the state, he said.
We urge the fake CoI holders to surrender their certificates immediately before we disclose the names in public, said Kaziman.
He urged the State government to issue a directive through the chief secretary that all government employees have to submit CoIs of three generations.
Those having fake documents should surrender their fake documents and also return the salary they have taken so far from the government, he said.
