Not less than 40 Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) employees have been terminated for alleged illegal appointments. As per the Times8 report, the employees under question were appointed without any official recruitment procedure by top GMC officials.
Report by fact finding committee
On Saturday, August 28, a fact finding committee submitted its reports following media reports of the illegal appointments and therefore every one of the 40 employees were terminated. All of those terminated daily wage employees in the GMC.
Further action yet to be taken regarding officials
It has come to light that the recruitments took place during former commissioner of GMC Debajit Hazarika’s tenure. However, further action regarding those involved in the recruitment.
