Guwahati Police found the body of a woman who had been mercilessly cut to pieces at her Boragaon apartment on Thursday evening in a horrific incident. In this case, the woman’s husband has been detained.
As per reports, the deceased’s chopped-up body parts were discovered inside the bedroom, wrapped in plastic bags.
Identification of the decreased
Antima Gupta was the woman who died, and her husband is Santosh Gupta.
On Wednesday afternoon, Santosh Gupta filed a missing complaint about his wife at Gorchuk police station. The couple shared a rented apartment.
The matter is being investigated further by the Guwahati police. Their cellphones have been found.
Another recent murder case in Guwahati city
On Wednesday, a 14-year-old girl was brutally murdered at her home in Guwahati’s Kharghuli. The girl was attacked when her parents were away, and her aunt discovered her blood-soaked body.
Apart from being stabbed roughly 12 times by the attack, the girl, a student at Angel of God School, was hit with a pressure cooker and her head was pounded with a grinding mortar numerous times.
Soon after the girl’s body was discovered, investigating officer Rajveer and Guwahati police commissioner Harmeet Singh arrived at the crime scene and began a thorough investigation.
In the morning, her parents headed to their restaurant. The couple, who are from Rajasthan, has lived in a rented property in the Uzanbazzar region for the past ten years.
Furthermore, Abhishek Gupta alias Asik, one of the accused, has admitted to killing the girl, who was his cousin’s sister, after an incident. The mobile phone and partially destructed SIM card that he had hidden after the murder have also been recovered by the police.
Speaking to the media in this regard, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Police District, Rajveer Singh said, “We have taken Abhishek Gupta into custody. He is the cousin of the deceased victim girl Dimpal Kumapati. During our interrogation, Gupta has confessed that he had killed Dimpal due to an altercation. Later, the accused has removed the SIM card from her mobile phone and had hidden it in his friend’s house in the Baruwari area.”
