Dry Day has been declared in Assam on the day of GMC elections from April 20th to 22nd of April. In addition, the day of counting, and re poll has also been declared as a Dry Day.

Dry day in Assam
According to a recent order by the Assam Govenment, from 4:30 Pm onwards of 20th of April 2022, till 4:30 pm of 22nd of April 2022 – no alcohol shops would be open in the state and the state has declared Dry Days. In addition 24 th of April has also been considered to be as Dry Days.
As per the official reports published, “during the period, the Governor of Assam is pleased to Prohibits the Possession of any intoxicants by any person or groups of persons and a total of ban on the sale of liquor giving or distributing of spirituous, fermented or intoxicating liquors or other substances of alike nature at a hotel, eating house, tavern, shop or other places – public or private. All Bonded (wholesale) warehouses, retails OFF and ON shops will remain closed during these days.
Further, it was added that “any violation of the order shall be dealt with under the relevant Provision of Assam Excise Act and Rules and under the provision of section 135 (C) of election rules to respective constituencies.
