As per reports, in Assam the workers of cinema halls have staged a protest at several halls on Sunday. A recent tweet came from ANI in this regard that All Assam Cinema Hall Employees Association directed a Protest in Guwahati.
Protest against Government’s decision
While the uprising of the employees had been initiated against the Government’s decision, the decision was to keep the movie halls closed due to the prevailing Covid-19 situation.
Recently the Government of Assam has opened public transportation, shopping malls.
restaurants and bars. So the protestors are demanding to open up the cinema halls and theatres.
Lives of the cinema halls employees hampered
The protestors and workers assert that this lengthy shutdown of cinema halls is creating huge difficulty in their lives. Moreover, they are facing a financial crisis.
They further stated that, while in the state all other public gathering spots are opened up, there is no point in shutting down the theatres and cinema halls; it is impacting their lives.
Protest seen in Guwahati
However, the protests are seen at the Anuradha Cinema hall in Guwahati by the cinema hall workers. Likewise, many protests are noticed across the state on the concerned issue by the other cinema hall workers.
“Govt has reopened public transportation, restaurants, bars,shopping malls but we don’t know why govt is not ready to reopen cinema halls” says a protester.
As per the latest Covid-19 SOP, the government of Assam has not yet mentioned the reopening of the cinema halls, nor taken any decision in this context.
