Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), on Monday, July 9, created history to become the first government medical college hospital in eastern India after they successfully carried out Thrombolysis inside a mobile stroke unit with an in-built CT Scanner. The patient was about 65 years of age and had suffered a stroke.
AMC successfully carried out the first thrombolysis within 3 hours of an acute stroke. It’s the first time a government medical college carried out such a procedure, said Dr Kakati, Principal cum chief superintendent, AMCH.
Confirming the development, AMCH principal Sanjeeb Kakati further mentioned: “The patient, a worker from a nearby tea garden, reached the hospital within two hours of the stroke. The doctors provided treatment to the patient in less than 30 minutes saving his life.”
