Assam Government, with its new Chief minister is seen undertaking several new steps in order to mitigate the environment crisis in the state. From keeping a strong vigil at poachers and land misdoers to plantation drives in the state.
Assam government will take the help of Drones to monitor and verify the authenticity of all tree plantation programmes carried out under Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) and other biodiversity projects.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, while stating that the reforestation drive under Assam Project for Forest and Biodiversity Conservation (APFBC) will have to be monitored for quantifying the performance, stressed on the need to increase the use of technology like satellite imaging by the forest department for monitoring activities.
