India is recorded to be the second-highest country to have cumulative covid-19 cases after the United States in the world. According to the records of the Union ministry of health and family welfare’s data, India witnessed a massive jump of 6148 fresh fatalities in the last 24 hours due to Covid-19. This is the highest number of fatalities recorded in a single day in the country.
However, the number of new cases detected are below the mark of 100,000 for the 3rd day straight. With Bihar, later, adding a backlog of 3,951 fatalities to their initial record submitted that reported 20 new deaths, and an overall death toll of 5,478 is considered as one of the reasons for the humongous rise in daily fatalities.
Data, now, shows that India’s Covid-19 infection tally has risen to 29,183,121. While on the other hand, recovery rate has improved to 94.76% as witnessed in the Thursday’s data since 151,367 more people recovered from the disease, taking the total number of such cases to 27,655,493.
The government-run Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has tested a total samples of 372,198253 covid infection and on June 8th, reported 86,498 fresh infections. This was the first time since April 6, that the country had a caseload of less than 100,000 new cases in a single-day.
