Tom Shields qualifies for Tokyo Olympics; Finishes second in U.S. swim trials

Tom Shields, a member of the gold medal- winning 400 medley relay at the 2016 Rio Games, delivered a breathtaking performance in the 100-meter butterfly at the U.S. Olympic swim trials on Saturday and secured his entry into the Tokyo Olympics.

Shields,29, finished second in the qualification. Meanwhile,
world-recordholder Caeleb Dressel finished in the first place. Luca Urlando earned his ticket to Tokyo by finishing third.

Overcoming past mental health issues, Tom Shields, a Cal grad, becomes the 6th different Cal swimmer to book a spot at the Tokyo Games.
