Assam’s Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare has issued an employment notice for 177 Sub-Divisional Sports Officer, Physical Instructor, and Coach vacancies.
For the following vacancies in the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare, Assam, applications are invited from intending eligible candidates who are citizens of India as defined in the Constitution of India and have registered with the Employment Exchange in the State of Assam.
Assam Sports and Youth Welfare Recruitment 2022: Job Description
1. Name of Post: Sub – Divisional Sports Officer

Pay Scale: Rs. 22,000 to 97,000/- + Rs. 9400/- Grade Pay + Other Allowances as Appropriate
Educational Qualification for SDSO: For the post of SDSO in Sports and Youth Welfare, a degree in Arts, Science, or Commerce from a recognised university combined with a degree or diploma in Physical Education from an Indian university or institution OR a 3/4 B.PE degree (recognised (SDSO) by the government) from a recognized Indian university or physical education institution.
2. Name of Post: Physical Instructor (PI)

Pay Scale: Rs. 14,000 to 60,500/- + Rs. 8700/- Grade Pay + Other Allowances as Appropriate
Educational Qualification for PI: For the post of PI in Sports and Youth Welfare, a degree in Arts, Science, or Commerce from a recognised university combined with a degree or diploma in Physical Education from an Indian university or institution OR a 3/4 B.PE degree (recognised by the government) from an Indian university or physical education institution.
3. Name of Post: Coach

Pay Scale: Rs. 14,000 to 60,500/- + Rs. 8700/- Grade Pay + Other Allowances as Appropriate
Disciplines: Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Athletics, Badminton, Swimming, Wushu, Weightlifting, Taekwondo, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Boxing, Archery, Gymnastics, Hockey, Canoeing & Kayaking, Judo, Kho – Kho, Kabaddi, Wrestling, Cycling, Cricket, Mountaineering & Adventurism, Fencing, and Handball are some of the sports in which coaches focus solely.
Educational Qualification: For the post of Sports and Youth Welfare degree in Arts, Science, or Commerce from a recognised university plus a one-year Sports Coaching Diploma from the Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports (NSNIS) OR an equivalent Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Coaching from another institute recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India.
Or a Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Science, or Commerce from a recognised university, plus a Diploma in Methods of Instruction and a Basic and Advanced Mountaineering Course from a recognised institution.
Criteria for Assam Sports and Youth Welfare Recruitment 2022
- Candidates must be citizens of India, as defined by Articles 5 to 8 of the Indian Constitution, and permanent residents of Assam.
- The candidate must present a Registration Certificate of Employment Exchange in the State of Assam.
Age Limit:
- Candidates for the position of SDSO must be at least 21 years old and not older than 38 years on January 1, 2022.
- Candidates for the position of PI. & Coach must be between the ages of 21 and 40 as of January 1, 2022.
Age Relaxation:
- By 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
- By 3 years for OBC/MOBC candidates.
- By 2 years for Ex-Servicemen.
The candidates’ age limit will be determined based on their Matriculation/HSLC Admit Card or Pass Certificate issued by a recognised Central/State Board/Council, and no other document will be accepted in lieu of these documents.
How to Apply?
Interested and eligible candidates should submit a Prescribed Application Form along with self-attested copies of all academic certificates, mark sheets, and other supporting documentation.
The following documents must be submitted by candidates:
- 2 (two) passport-size photos taken recently.
- Pan Card/Voter ID Card/Adhar Card/Driving License/Passport/Current ID Card issued by Education Institutions are examples of ID proof.
- Exam admit card/pass certificate for H.S.L.C.
- Certificates of graduation and diplomas, as well as mark sheets.
- Valid Employment Exchange Registration Certificate.
- Income & Assets certificate of the family issued by the officer not below the rank of Circle Officer (in case of EWS candidates).
- Caste/Category Certificate (In case of reserved category candidates).
- Discharge Book No. & Date, place of issue (in case of Ex-serviceman).
On or before April 11, 2022, the application should be sent to the Office of the Director, Sports & Youth Welfare, Assam, Dispur, Guwahati – 781006 with a self-addressed (in capital letters) envelope (22 cm X 10 cm) and a Postal Stamp of Rs. 5.00 (Rupees five) only.
