48-year-old senior journalist Sameer Sohliya who is also known as ‘Bobby’ passed away at his residence in Langkyrding Mihngi, East Khasi Hills, on Saturday evening after prolonged illness. The dynamic scribe was first with All India Radio as a casual reporter before he joined Media Plus as Associate Editor in December 1999 and subsequently as the Editor. He was also associated with The Sentinel as Senior Correspondent till his last day.
The renowned journalist left behind his wife and two daughters. Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma paid his condolences to the passing away of the scribe. He extended his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family members of Sohliya.
CM wrote in his tweet, “Well read, well-spoken and courteous, Sameer was a promising journalist who was admired not only by the press fraternity but by many who knew him personally.”
