The head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, posted a video on Twitter which reflects that the company has concentrated on bringing the latest video-based features on the Instagram platform. Mosseri said that Instagram is going to focus on creators, video, shopping, and messaging stuff. Adding further, he cleared that “Instagram is no longer just a photo-sharing app.”
The steps were taken for the following reasons: First, people said they use Instagram to be entertained, he revealed, and the company plans to lean into that trend. He also admitted that there’s a lot of competition in the space, from TikTok, YouTube, and other video content applications.
Mosseri verified that Instagram would soon start showing some content in their feeds, which users may not be able to follow up on, and that they have begun testing on this. Users will decide topics like what content they want to see more of and follow on the platform. Instagram will also focus on full-screen, immersive mobile-first videos, according to Mosseri.
The app is also said to be working on a new feature called “Exclusive Stories” if recent reports are to be believed. The new feature will allow users access to their favourite creators’ stories. The feature seems to be related to paid subscriptions which will allow access to creators’ stories only to fans.
