Olympic-bound boxer Mary Kom has decided to go to Assisi, Italy and train with the Indian boxing contingent that flew there earlier this month for a preparatory camp to avoid restrictions imposed on athletes flying from India to Tokyo. She was training in Pune.
As a safety precaution, the Japanese authorities have asked the Indian athletes and officials to undergo daily COVID-19 tests for a week before departing to Tokyo. Moreover, those travelling from India will not be allowed to interact with anyone from another country for three days upon arrival in Tokyo.
Mary Kom along with her coach Chhote Lal Yadav and a physio, will now join eight other Tokyo-bound Indian boxers – Vikas Krishan, Lovlina Borgohain, Ashish Kumar, Pooja Rani, Satish Kumar, Amit Panghal, Manish Kaushik and Simranjit Kaur – in Italy.
