Prime accused of mob lynching case in Assam’s Jorhat town of an All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) leader has been arrested by Jorhat Police on earlier Tuesday
Dy365 reported that the accused has been identified as Niraz Das who managed to escape from the scene.
Niraz was on a run and was arrested from Borigaon.
Mortal remains of Animesh Bhuyan yet to be cremated
The remains of AASU leader Animesh Bhuyan, who was brutally murdered in town by miscreants, are yet to be cremated.
Golaghat Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhurya Baruah is currently the resident of AASU leader Animesh Bhuyan.
Local villagers, on the other hand, mounted a protest in front of the DSP, asking that the Superintendent of Police, Jorhat, come to the AASU leader’s house immediately, Time8 reports.
Sources state the locals got into a fight with the police officer.
The enraged residents allegedly threatened the Jorhat administration and SP, claiming to be performing Animesh’s funeral rites near the crime scene.

13 accused have been arrested so far in connection to the incident and video footage is being used to identify the people involved.
