Indian Navy’s MP Jabir to represent India in the Tokyo Olympics in 400m hurdles

Ace athlete of the Indian Navy, MP Jabir has qualified for the Tokyo Olympics in 400m hurdle after winning gold at the recent Inter-State Athletics Championships in Patiala with the time score of 49.78s.

Jabir qualified through the World ranking quota which included a list of 14 sports. The 25-year-old Naval sailor from Malappuram, Kerala is currently ranked at 34th among the World Athletics’ Road to Olympics rankings which had 40 names of athletes on the qualifiers list.

The young Naval sailor becomes the first male athlete from India to participate in the 400m hurdle in the Olympics and the second participant from India in the same category after P T Usha.
