Assam: A team of Kamrup Police on January 5, expropriates three vehicles travelling from Tezpur to Meghalaya.
About the incident in Assam:
Pursuing an operation based on information from a reliable source, the team of Kamrup Police seized three vehicles which were travelling from Tezpur to Meghalaya.
Recoveries during the operation:
In the search operation the police recovered a total of 87 cattles which were being transported without any valid documents.
As per the officials, the truck drivers couldn’t produce the valid documents during the interrogation after which the police seized the trucks and the cattles.
The Kamrup Police took the incident to Twitter where it wrote, “Acting on reliable information, a team of Kamrup Police intercepted three vehicles coming from Tezpur to Meghalaya and during search recovered 87 nos of cattle which were transported without any valid documents.”
Assam Cattle Preservation Act:
Previously on December 23, 2021 the Assam Assembly passed an amendment to the Assam Cattle Preservation Act empowering police to enter the house of an accused and inspect, search and seize properties acquired in the last six years with funds reportedly earned from illegal cattle trade.
